U.S. Faster Payments Council Publishes New Resources in Knowledge Center

For Immediate Release

Jan. 26, 2022 – The U.S. Faster Payments Council (FPC), a membership organization devoted to advancing safe, easy-to-use faster payments in the United States, has published new publicly available industry resources in its online Faster Payments Knowledge Center—a Directory Models infographic and Solution Providers Catalogue. The Knowledge Center is a comprehensive suite of resources, tools, news, and research to further faster payments learning.

Developed by the FPC Directory Models Work Group, the new infographic, Making the Case for an Interoperable Directory to Facilitate Faster Payments, takes its two recent white papers on directory models for faster payments and reduces both into easily digestible content for better industry understanding. The infographic outlines the key core and value-added characteristics that can strengthen the value of a directory service and highlights several areas where a directory can provide efficiencies, revenue, and cost savings.

“Coupled with interoperable directory services, faster payments can play an integral role in providing U.S. businesses and consumers with more efficient and secure transactions,” said Peter Tapling, Managing Director of PTap Advisory, LLC and FPC Directory Models Work Group Chair. “Our Work Group is pleased to present this new resource to help build awareness of the many ways that interoperable directories could bolster the capabilities of faster payment systems, deliver economic benefits, and advance adoption.”

The FPC also recently added an interactive Solution Providers Catalogue to its Knowledge Center. The catalogue details several of the faster payments solutions, products, and services currently offered by FPC members. Users can sort solutions by organization type (network, financial institution, bankers bank/credit union, third-party payment provider, or credit union service organization) and then further by direct customers, method of clearing, payment types, payment limits, and message formats. And there are plans to include profiles of additional solution providers in the future.

“FPC’s Education & Awareness Work Group created the Knowledge Center to provide the industry at large with resources and educational materials to support faster payments adoption and advancement,” said Charles Harkness, SVP/Strategic Operations Officer at Corporate One FCU and FPC Education & Awareness Work Group Chair. “The Solution Providers Catalogue is one of the latest additions to the Knowledge Center that we believe is a valuable guide for anyone seeking more information on faster payments solutions available in the market today.”

The FPC prioritizes inclusion of diverse perspectives in tackling complex topics such as interoperability, identifying real-world solutions that can ease adoption of faster payments, managing security risks and fraud threats, addressing barriers to financial inclusion and cross-border payments, and more, as the organization paves the way toward a future of faster payments for all.
