FPC: Hitting the Road to Continue the Conversations that Drive Faster Payments Forward

As the industry’s organization dedicated to advancing faster payments, the U.S. Faster Payments Council (FPC) continues to play a vital role in driving the conversations that increase awareness, deepen understanding, and create the ideas to continue faster payments advancement.

This fall, the FPC hit the road again, bringing perspectives and insights on various faster payments topics to industry stakeholders in attendance at key events across the payments ecosystem such as:

  • Pay by Bank: Last month at MRC San Diego, I moderated a panel of market leaders exploring what is holding Pay by Bank back in the United States and what it will take to unlock greater growth. The diverse perspectives offered a glimpse into how Pay by Bank can unlock stronger customer relationships and long-term value. Additionally, at the MAG Payments Conference 2026, which took place September 27-30, I participated in a panel with the Federal Reserve, ACI Worldwide, and Amazon where we discussed Pay by Bank, as well as real-time payments, and the specific considerations and factors merchants must address to improve usability and grow adoption. The discussion served as a way to highlight where real-time payments can create value today and what that value can mean for the future of merchant payments.

  • Instant payments for community banks: On September 23, at UMACHA’s Navigating Payments 2026, FPC’s SVP, Association Operations Leader Angela Hendershott moderated a discussion with leaders from the Federal Reserve, Jack Henry, U.S. Bank, and North American Banking Company (NABC) on how instant payment send capabilities can provide a competitive edge for community banks and credit unions, helping position them for the future. We’ll also explore this same topic at AFP 2026 with the Federal Reserve, Wells Fargo, and ADP later this fall, showcasing how instant payments send can improve liquidity, reduce friction, strengthen cash flow control, and create a more agile finance function for treasury and finance teams. Together, these discussions highlight how instant payments can help organizations operate with greater speed, flexibility, and control.

  • The future of faster payments: And in early November at EPCOR’s Fall 2026 Payments Conference, I’ll join Volante Technologies and the Federal Reserve to explore the trends, adoption patterns, and opportunities shaping the future of faster payments. Drawing on insights from the latest FPC research including results from the newest Faster Payments Barometer (for which we are still soliciting input; be sure to submit your views today), the session will examine where faster payments are delivering value today, where demand is accelerating, and what will drive growth through 2028.

And the conversation does not stop there. Following EPCOR’s Conference, the FPC will bring its community together for the Fall Member Meeting  November 4-6 in Overland Park, Kansas.

The meeting will feature three days of education, collaboration, and insights on the future of faster payments—including a candid fireside chat with David Watson, President & CEO of The Clearing House, and myself on where U.S. instant payments are headed, and so much more.

We’re excited about the important conversations we’ve already started, and we can’t wait to extend the conversations that will help ensure the path forward is informed, strategic, and focused on the opportunities that will move faster payments ahead.

If we haven’t already seen you on the road this fall, we hope to see you at an upcoming event soon!
