As faster payments continue to mature, the conversation is shifting from why organizations should adopt them to how they can maximize their value. Financial institutions and businesses are looking beyond implementation towards return on investment, operational benefits, and other business factors to remain competitive in an increasingly faster digital economy.
To support this evolution, this past month the FPC released several new resources designed to help organizations evaluate opportunities, modernize payment operations, and prepare for what's next.
First, the FPC debuted a new Faster Payments Value Engine Tool that provides financial institutions and businesses with an evidence-based framework for assessing faster payments opportunities. Financial institutions can evaluate current implementation efforts, identify additional areas of growth, and estimate potential return on investment. Businesses can determine which faster payments use cases align best with their operations, understand the potential benefits of adoption, and identify practical next steps. This newly developed tool will continue to evolve to respond to industry developments. As such, we invite you to explore it and share feedback at memberservices@fasterpaymentscouncil.org. Continued industry input will play an important role in refining parameters to meet the growing needs of the ecosystem.
The FPC also released a paper, From Bottleneck to Command Center: Embedding Instant Payments in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), developed by the Business Benefits for B2B Instant Payments Work Group. Serving as the culmination of the work group's efforts, the white paper explores how ERP systems are evolving beyond traditional financial management platforms to become centralized hubs where instant payments, treasury functions, and financial automation can be embedded directly into day-to-day business operations. The paper serves as a fitting conclusion to the group's work, and we thank its members for their dedication and expertise in developing practical resources that continue to advance B2B faster payments.
Finally, the Cross-Border Payments Work Group, in collaboration with the Digital Assets Work Group, published the report, Stablecoins as a Cross-Border Payment Method, examining how GENIUS Act-compliant stablecoins could enhance cross-border payment processes. The report compares stablecoin-based payment models with traditional correspondent banking approaches while outlining the operational, compliance, liquidity, and regulatory considerations organizations should evaluate when considering these emerging payment solutions.
As these resources demonstrate, the FPC remains committed to developing practical tools that help the industry make informed decisions, navigate emerging technologies, and realize the full business value of faster payments. We appreciate the continued engagement of the industry and our Members, whose expertise and collaboration power these resources and the progress they support.
